Introduction

Ceramics derive their origins from the ancient Greek kingdom reflecting the progress of human civilization from the past. Although China has dominated ceramics, especially during the fourteenth to nineteenth centuries, it has been universally embraced as a symbol of human necessity, status, relationships, trade, spirituality and a record of human history since pre-historic times. With clay as their basic ingredient, ceramics have developed into a modern nomenclature to include tiles, cement, glass, bricks and such.
