Muzium Tekstil Negara ditempatkan di Bangunan JKR 26 di Lot 50 Seksyen 70, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, Kuala Lumpur, sebuah bangunan warisan yang pernah digunakan oleh pelbagai jabatan dan institusi sebelum ini. Bangunan yang siap dibina pada tahun 1896 ini berketinggian 2 ½ tingkat dengan keluasan tanah 3259 m2 dan keluasan lantai 3145.3 m2.

 

National Textile Museum is located at JKR 26, Lot 50 Seksyen 70, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, Kuala Lumpur, a heritage building previously occupied by various departments and institutions. The building which was completed in 1896 is 2 ½ level with an area of 3259 m2 and floor area of 3145.3 m2.

The gathering of collections and researches related to the Malay World is now aggressively pursued and these activities will continue until the Malay World Ethnological Museum is fully completed. Collection gathering consists of several kinds, such as textiles, weapons, technological and metallic devices, self-enhancement, musical instruments etc. The finest and most difficult to obtain collections are gathered from countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia/Vietnam, South Africa, Madagascar as well as other parts of the world included in the Malay World. The unique and fascinating Polynesian collections are now stored at the Department of Museums Malaysia.
