Kuda kepang is among the unique, dynamic, and aesthetically beautiful cultural art heritages in Malaysia. However, behind the uniqueness of its dance and musical rhythm, this art form is often shrouded in mystery and associated with mystical and superstitious elements. This session of the Bicara@Muzium Adat program will uncover, analyze, and discuss the actual reality behind this polemic. Is the kuda kepang dance merely an expression of traditional art that needs to be preserved, or is it truly laden with practices that deviate from the customs and beliefs of modern society? This discourse will be examined from an academic perspective as well as the reality of the community championing the art form.
