Background

Malaysia’s initial step into heavy industries especially in the production of commercial vehicles was the set up of heavy Industries Company (HICOM) in 1980 and subsequently Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Berhad (PROTON), in 1983, Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Berhad (PERODUA) in 1993 and Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sendirian Berhad (MODENAS) in 1995. Over the years the automotive industry in Malaysia has expend. Parallel to the development of Malaysia vehicles industries, a museum has been built. The National Automobile Museum displays locally made cars and motorcycles and imported cars that have been used in the country. The main objective the museum is to give information on the Malaysia developments in automotive industry and its achievement. The museum also shows various collections of vintage and classic cars which have its own history to tell. The museums hopes to inform, educate and entertain the public on the country’s history and achievement in the automotive industry.
 

Collection and Galleries

The National Automobile Museum which located at Welcome Centre International Sepang Circuit with exhibition floor plan approximately 7,949 square feet for ground level and 10,577 square feet for first floor. The ground floor exhibition area exhibits the introduction segment of National Automobile Museum with the history of Malaysia’s transportations development and the early cars of Malaysia . Various collections of cars that been used in Malaysia such as The Brushmobile made in 1904, Ford Speedster in 1923 and Alvis Tourer 1935. The next segment is the International Sepang Circuit with their yearly event in sports motoring activity such as F1 racing, The Super GT International Series race and MotoGP race. The first floor exhibition area, exhibits the Malaysian automotive industry in genera. The visitors may know the Malaysia based company in contributing and develop the Malaysia automotive industry consisting DRB-Hicom, PROTON, BUFORI, MODENAS and PERODUA. Various collections of cars and motorcycles from the company exhibit here.

Closed on the first two days of Eid Al-Fitr and first day of Eid Al-Adha
